Presale & Discounts
Manage presales, discounts, and promotional banners
Set advance-order rules, manage automatic product promotions, and control every storefront promotional banner from three clear tabs.
Before you start
- For a presale, create the product and any variants first. Decide when ordering opens, when it ends, and whether each customer needs a limit.
- For a discount, choose the products or product categories that should qualify. Automatic promotions do not apply to TCG singles.
- Presales control advance ordering; discounts reduce a selling price. Setting up one does not automatically create the other.
- Promotional banners announce an offer. A linked banner follows the actual presale or online discount rather than becoming another copy of its rules.
What success looks like
- Presales show their target, price, customer limit, ordering window, and status in the Presales tab.
- Active promotions show their channel, schedule, type, and status in the Discounts tab.
- Eligible product carts receive the offer without staff entering it manually.
- Ineligible products, singles, dates, and sales channels do not receive the automatic promotion.
- Active storefront banners follow the selected presentation and schedule.
- Presale and discount banners appear together when both are active and the store is showing all banners.
Quick start
The shortest path through this area.
- 1Open Sales > Presale & Discounts.
- 2Use the Presales tab and choose New presale to select the exact product or variant customers will order.
- 3Set the presale price when it differs from the regular price, add an optional customer limit and storefront note, then set the start and end dates next to each other.
- 4Enable and save the presale, then confirm its status and ordering window in the list.
- 5Use the Discounts tab and choose New discount when you want to run a promotion instead.
- 6Select Amount off products or Buy X, get Y.
- 7Set the sales channel, discount or reward, value, and eligible products. Buy X, get Y also needs qualifying products and reward products.
- 8Set the start and end dates and an optional application limit.
- 9Save the promotion.
- 10Test a qualifying cart and a non-qualifying cart in each enabled channel.
- 11Use the Promotional Banners tab when shoppers need an announcement. Choose whether the banner stands alone or follows an existing online discount or presale.
Common tasks
Open only the task you need.
Create a percentage or dollar promotionAutomatic discounts apply to products, not TCG singles.
- 1Select New Discount and enter a name staff will understand.
- 2Choose Amount off products, then choose in store, online, or both sales channels.
- 3Choose Percentage off or Dollar amount off each and enter the value.
- 4Choose the products or product categories that qualify.
- 5Set adjacent start and end dates, then use priority only when another active promotion could also match.
- 6Create the discount and test one eligible and one ineligible product in the intended sales channel.
Create a buy-one-get-one promotionBuy X, get Y supports free, percentage-off, and dollar-off rewards.
- 1Create a discount and choose Buy X, get Y.
- 2Set how many qualifying products the customer buys and choose the qualifying products or categories.
- 3Set the reward quantity, choose Free, Percentage off, or Dollar amount off each, and choose the rewarded products or categories.
- 4Set a maximum number of reward sets per order when the promotion should not repeat without limit.
- 5Choose the sales channel and schedule, save, then test the quantity immediately below and exactly at the qualifying amount.
Create a promotional bannerManage standalone, discount, and presale announcements together while keeping their visibility aligned with the promotion they follow.
- 1Open Sales > Presale & Discounts, select the Promotional Banners tab, and choose New banner.
- 2Choose Standalone announcement, Online discount, or Product presale. Select the linked promotion when prompted.
- 3Enter the internal name, customer-facing headline, and optional supporting text.
- 4Choose a storefront button destination and label, or leave both blank. Selecting a presale provides its product page as a destination without requiring an address or slug.
- 5Set the schedule, priority, colors, and whether customers can dismiss it, then review the preview and save.
- 6Use Banner presentation to show one prioritized banner, all active banners as a static bar, or all active banners as a scrolling bar.
Stop or change a promotionDeactivate a promotion when it must stop immediately; edit dates for planned schedule changes.
- 1Open the discount and review its status, channel, products, dates, and priority.
- 2Choose Edit for a planned correction, then retest the promotion.
- 3Choose Deactivate when the offer must no longer apply.
- 4Refresh POS or the storefront before testing if either was already open when the promotion changed.
How this area works
Reference information for the choices on this page.
Presales are their own workflow
- A product-level presale controls the product as a whole. Choose a specific variant when that option needs its own price, dates, limit, or customer message.
- Leave presale price blank to keep the regular selling price while still controlling the ordering window and customer limit.
- Scheduled, active, ended, and disabled presales remain visible so they can be reviewed or reused without editing the product record.
- Disabling a presale keeps its settings but stops offering it as a presale.
Choose the right promotion
- Amount off products gives an eligible product a percentage or fixed-dollar reduction.
- Buy X, get Y rewards a quantity only after the qualifying quantity is in the cart. The reward can be free, percentage off, or a fixed amount off.
- Use an application limit to prevent a repeating buy-one-get-one offer from applying more times than intended in one order.
Promotional Banners
- Every banner is created and maintained in the Promotional Banners tab—not inside the Presales or Discounts tabs.
- A banner can stand alone, follow an online discount, or follow a product or variant presale. A linked banner hides whenever its promotion is inactive, disabled, ended, or unavailable.
- Button destinations are selected from storefront pages. Presale banners can point directly to the linked product page, so the user does not need to look up an address or slug.
- One shared presentation setting controls all active banner types: show the highest-priority banner, every active banner as a static bar, or every active banner as a scrolling bar.
- Static banners can be left, center, or right aligned. Scrolling banners use the selected ticker speed.
- A dismissed banner returns when the shopper refreshes the page.
Automatic and manual discounts
- Dashboard promotions apply automatically to eligible products during their schedule.
- A staff member can add an audited manual percentage or dollar adjustment to a product or single in POS when their role permits it.
- A manual single discount is not an automatic promotion and does not make singles eligible for a dashboard sale.
Schedules and overlap
- A scheduled promotion begins and ends using the dates shown on the discount.
- Sales channel prevents an in-store-only offer from appearing online and an online-only offer from appearing in POS.
- Priority decides which promotion wins when more than one active rule can apply to the same product.
Troubleshooting
Choose the symptom that matches what you see.
An upcoming product does not appear when creating a presale
Create and save the product under Products first. Then return to Sales > Presale & Discounts, choose New presale, and search by its product name, variant name, SKU, or barcode.
A presale is scheduled, ended, or disabled unexpectedly
Open the presale and review Enabled plus the adjacent start and end dates. Scheduled has not reached its start date, ended has passed its end date, and disabled is retained but not offered.
POS or storefront does not show a newly saved promotion
Refresh the open POS or storefront session, then check the promotion status, dates, sales channel, and selected products. Test with the exact quantity required by a buy-one-get-one offer.
The wrong promotion applies
Review overlapping product selections, schedules, channels, and priority. Deactivate the unintended promotion while correcting an active offer.
A storefront banner is missing
Open the Promotional Banners tab and check that the banner is enabled and inside its schedule. A linked discount must be active and include the online sales channel; a linked presale must be enabled and inside its ordering window. In single-banner mode, only the highest-priority active banner appears.
A single does not receive the automatic discount
That is expected. Automatic promotions are for products only. An authorized staff member can use a manual discount on the single in POS when appropriate.
