Add, edit, or deactivate a promotional banner

Add an announcement to your storefront, or create a banner for an existing online discount or presale. Choose the text, appearance, button destination, and display dates.

Before you start

  • Presale & Discounts → Promotional Banners
  • You need product view or discount view permission to open banners. Product update permission permits presale and standalone banners. Discount create permission permits new discount or standalone banners; discount update permission permits editing or deactivating them. Your role controls the available banner types. Page view permission is needed to choose a published custom page as the button destination.

What success looks like

  • The banner can appear on the storefront during its active dates. A linked banner also depends on the linked offer being available.

Quick start

Choose the task you need. Each task has its own steps.

Create a banner

  1. 1Open Presale & Discounts → Promotional Banners and click New banner. Choose Standalone announcement, Online discount or Product presale. For a linked banner, select the existing offer; search presales by product, variant, SKU or barcode.
  2. 2Enter Internal name and Headline, then add Supporting text if needed. For a button, choose Button destination first and enter Button label. Choose No button for an announcement without a link. Custom page destinations must be published.
  3. 3Set Priority, Starts, Ends, Background, Text, Enabled and Customer can dismiss. Review the preview, then click Create banner. Use Cancel to leave without publishing.
  4. 4Check the saved banner and your storefront during its active dates. A linked banner appears only while its offer is active. Creating a banner does not create a discount or enable a presale.
  5. 5If another announcement appears instead, check Banner presentation and the priorities of active banners.

Edit a banner

  1. 1Open Promotional Banners, find the banner and click Edit. Check its Banner type and linked offer before changing the message, destination, colors or dates.
  2. 2Click Save changes, then reopen the banner and check the saved settings. Check the active storefront announcement too. Choose No button to remove both its button label and destination.
  3. 3Use Cancel to leave without saving. If a save response is interrupted, close the editor and refresh the banner list to check whether the change was saved before trying again.

Deactivate a banner

  1. 1Open Promotional Banners and click Deactivate beside the banner you want to stop showing. This does not deactivate its linked discount or presale.
  2. 2Check that the banner is Disabled and no longer appears on a refreshed storefront. To show it again, click Edit, turn Enabled on, check its dates and linked offer, and click Save changes.

Important details
  • A banner for an online discount appears only while that discount is active.
  • Custom pages must be published before they can be selected as a button destination.

Troubleshooting

Choose the symptom that matches what you see.

The banner does not appear

Check Enabled, its dates, and any linked offer. Then check Banner presentation and Priority to see whether another active banner is being shown instead.

I cannot add the button I want

Select an available destination, then enter the button label. If the destination is a custom page, publish that page first.

The save response was interrupted

Close the editor and refresh the banner list before creating another banner. Check whether the first request saved it; an interrupted response does not prove that it failed.
