Payment Setup
Set up your point of sale (POS)
Get your register ready for its first sale: choose the stock location, connect payments, and set up a checkout station and its devices.
Before you start
- Sales → Payment Setup
- Your account needs Payments: Manage setup permission to open and configure Payment Setup. Viewing cash-drawer activity requires Payments: View status.
- A manager needs warehouse and payment setup access. Staff who use the register need permission to process payments.
What success looks like
- Your register uses the intended stock location, checkout station, and payment devices. You can ring up items and complete a sale.
Quick start
The shortest path through this area.
- 1Open Warehouses. Create or edit your stock location, enable POS / In-Store Sales under Sales Channels, and save. Add stock with quantities and selling prices.
- 2For card payments, open Payment Setup → In-store payments. Connect and activate an available card provider, then select Use as default. Keep an existing working connection. Cash-only sales do not require a card processor.
- 3Go to POS setup → Checkout stations. Add a station and choose its location. If you take card payments, use Payment terminals to check supported models, pair your terminal, and assign it to the station. Cash-only checkout does not need a payment terminal.
- 4For a receipt printer or cash drawer, follow Printers & drawers. If it offers Use the browser, follow POS browser hardware setup. Test printing and drawer operation.
- 5Open Point of Sale. Sign in, choose the location and station, and check your stock and terminal. Add items, choose a payment method, and complete the sale.
Troubleshooting
Choose the symptom that matches what you see.
No location appears in POS
Check that the location is active and has POS / In-Store Sales enabled.
I only need to take cash
You do not need to connect a card processor to record a cash payment. Set up the stock location and station, then choose Cash when completing the sale.
My payment terminal will not pair
Check the supported-device guidance in Payment terminals. A device from a supported provider is not automatically compatible; use the model and connection method shown there.
The processor is already connected
Keep the working connection. Check its in-store activation, default processor, and station assignment before changing anything.
