Payment Setup
Configure, test, and calibrate a cash drawer
Connect a drawer through a receipt printer or serial adapter, test that it opens, and calibrate its sensor if supported.
Before you start
- Sales → Payment Setup → POS setup → Printers & drawers
- Your account needs Payments: Manage setup permission to open and configure Payment Setup. Viewing cash-drawer activity requires Payments: View status.
- These controls require an available, paired Hardware Connector. If Connector setup is unavailable, use the supported browser hardware options in POS.
What success looks like
- The station saves its drawer assignment. The opening test checks the connection, and successful calibration lets MintLGS read the drawer’s sensor.
Quick start
The shortest path through this area.
- 1Select the station and find its connected drawer, or the printer configured with a drawer connection.
- 2Register the device and open its settings.
- 3For a printer-connected drawer, select the supported pin and pulse timing. For a serial drawer, enter the adapter’s command, connection speed, data bits, parity, and stop bits.
- 4Click Save drawer setup.
- 5Click Test drawer and check that the correct physical drawer opens. Assign it using Use as cash drawer or the station selector.
- 6If the drawer supports a sensor, start calibration and follow the instruction to close it fully. Calibration opens the drawer once to compare the sensor readings.
- 7Check Cash drawer activity for the test or calibration result.
How this area works
Reference information for the choices on this page.
Fields and options
- Printer connection: Pin 2 or 5; use a pulse supported by the connected drawer.
- Serial adapter command: Choose the matching Common USB, APG SerialPRO BEL, or high-security command.
- Serial settings: Speed, 7/8 data bits, parity, and 1/2 stop bits must match the adapter.
Troubleshooting
Choose the symptom that matches what you see.
The test opens a different drawer
Check the station assignment and physical printer or serial connection.
Calibration does not detect a change
Check that the drawer supports a sensor and is fully closed before calibration. A drawer can open successfully even when its sensor is not working.
