Accounting
Enter opening balances in MintLGS
Enter starting balances for the accounts shown in the opening-balance form. MintLGS previews the balancing entry before you post it to the journal.
Before you start
- Accounting → Chart of Accounts → Set Opening Balances
- You need accounting view permission to open this section. Creating or changing accounts, entries, and recurring templates requires the appropriate accounting permissions.
What success looks like
- The opening balances are posted to the journal with the balancing offset shown in the form.

How this area works
Reference information for the choices on this page.
Important details
- The form uses Opening Balance Equity (3900) for the offset. It records the amounts you enter; it does not calculate which starting balances you should use.
- Posting the form again can create another entry. Check Journal Entries before repeating a submission.
Troubleshooting
Choose the symptom that matches what you see.
An account is missing from the form
The form includes eligible Asset, Liability, and Equity accounts. Revenue and expense accounts are not included.
I posted the wrong amount
Open the posted entry and review it before making a correction or using the reversal action. Posting the entire opening-balance form again may duplicate amounts that were already correct.
