View and export Profit & Loss or Balance Sheet

Choose a reporting period for Profit & Loss or an as-of date for Balance Sheet. Each page lets you download the displayed statement as a CSV.

Before you start

  • Accounting → Profit & Loss or Balance Sheet
  • You need accounting view permission to open this section. Creating or changing accounts, entries, and recurring templates requires the appropriate accounting permissions.

What success looks like

  • The displayed statement and its CSV use the date range or as-of date you selected.

Quick start

The shortest path through this area.

  1. 1Open Profit & Loss. Select This Month, Last Month, This Quarter, or Year to Date, or enter your own start and end dates.
  2. 2Review Revenue, Operating Expenses, and Net Income for that period.
  3. 3Click CSV to download the statement.
  4. 4Open Balance Sheet. Select the As of date or click Today.
  5. 5Review Assets, Liabilities, Equity, and any out-of-balance message. Click CSV to download the statement for that date.
  6. 6If a figure needs investigation, compare it with Journal Entries using the same dates and relevant accounts.

Troubleshooting

Choose the symptom that matches what you see.

Balance Sheet says Out of balance

Note the totals and review the relevant journal entries. Contact support if you cannot explain the difference; entering an unrelated amount just to clear the warning can obscure the problem.

Profit & Loss does not match Sales Reports

Profit & Loss uses accounting entries, while Sales Reports uses transaction information. Compare the included sources and definitions before expecting the totals to match.
