Point of Sale

Open the drawer without a sale and review its activity

Open the cash drawer electronically or record an opening made with its physical key.

Before you start

  • POS → More → Cash drawer → Open drawer
  • Your account needs permission to take POS payments. Discounts, transaction history, refunds, station settings, and cash-drawer actions may require additional permissions.

What success looks like

  • The opening appears in Station activity with its reason and result. Cash added or removed must be recorded separately under Drawer shift.

Quick start

The shortest path through this area.

  1. 1Choose the reason for opening the drawer: Make change, Count the drawer, Cash movement, Manager open, or Other.
  2. 2Add a note if needed. A note is required when you select Other.
  3. 3Click Open electronically to use the configured drawer connection. If you have already opened it with a key, click Log physical key open.
  4. 4Read the result and refresh the status if the action is still pending.
  5. 5Open Activity → Station activity to see who opened the drawer, the reason, the connection used, and the result.

Troubleshooting

Choose the symptom that matches what you see.

The drawer does not open electronically

Check the station’s hardware assignment and the browser or Hardware Connector route. Review the failed action result before trying a different route.

Opening the drawer did not record a cash movement

A drawer-opening record and a pay-in, pay-out, or drop are separate actions. Record the cash movement on Drawer shift when needed.
