Inventory Tools

Open packages into stock or undo a mistaken opening

Use a packaging rule to reduce sealed stock and add the products inside, or undo an incorrect entry when allowed.

Before you start

  • Inventory Tools → Packaging → select a rule
  • Your account needs permission to update products.

What success looks like

  • The sealed quantity decreases and the smaller-product quantity increases according to the rule. Stock change history records the conversion.

Quick start

Choose the task you need. Each task has its own steps.

Open packages into stock

  1. 1Open Inventory Tools → Packaging, select an available rule and read What changes.
  2. 2Select Take sealed stock from and Put opened stock in. Check the available sealed quantity at the source warehouse.
  3. 3Enter a positive whole number under Packages to open and add a Note if needed.
  4. 4Review Removed from stock and Added to stock, then click Open packages.
  5. 5Wait for the success message. Check Stock change history and the quantities of both products.

Undo a mistaken opening

  1. 1If the entry was a mistake, open Inventory Tools → Packaging, select the rule and find the opening in Stock change history. Click Undo mistake and read the confirmation. Undo restores the earlier quantities only if later stock movements do not prevent it.

Troubleshooting

Choose the symptom that matches what you see.

Opening stock into another warehouse

No separate warehouse transfer is needed. Choose Take sealed stock from for the sealed package and Put opened stock in for the location where you are placing the products inside. Review both locations before opening the stock.

Stock is unavailable or insufficient

Check the source warehouse and wait for its availability check. Do not add an assumed quantity to bypass the validation.

Undo is blocked

Later movement can make the recorded before quantities unsafe to restore. Keep the entry details and contact support if you cannot reconcile the mistake through the normal inventory controls.

The request timed out

Check History and both product quantities before submitting a new opening. An error can appear after stock has already changed. Leave a completed opening in place; do not open the same physical package twice.

History will not load

Click Try again in the history error message. Do not repeat the stock change until you can check whether it was recorded.
