Inventory Tools
Create, edit, categorize, or turn off a packaging rule
Define which smaller product a sealed package contains and how many units should be added when it is opened.
Before you start
- Inventory Tools → Packaging
- Your account needs permission to view products to see packaging rules and permission to update products to change them.
What success looks like
- The saved rule shows the sealed product, product inside, conversion quantity, categories, and whether staff can use it.
Quick start
The shortest path through this area.
- 1Click Add packaging rule.
- 2Search for the Sealed product being opened and Product inside by name, option, SKU, or barcode. Select each one, or click Change to correct a selection.
- 3Enter a positive whole number for Quantity inside one package, such as 36 packs in one box.
- 4Assign categories, add a Staff note if needed, and choose whether the rule is Available for staff to use.
- 5Click Save packaging rule. To change a saved rule, open it and click Edit rule. Update its products, quantity, categories, or note, then save.
- 6To prevent further openings with the rule, click Turn off and confirm with Turn Off Rule. Click Turn on to make it available again.
- 7Use Manage categories to add, rename, or delete category labels. Search rules or filter by Category and Status to find a rule.
Troubleshooting
Choose the symptom that matches what you see.
Deleting a category
Deleting a packaging category removes its label from rules. The rules and their stock history remain.
Rules or products will not load
Click Try again in the error message. A loading error does not mean your saved rules or products are missing. Wait for the list before creating another record.
The product cannot be found
If the search finished without an error, check the exact product or option in Products, then search its name, SKU, or barcode. Create it only if it does not already exist.
A turned-off rule still appears
Turning a rule off keeps its setup and history. Select Available in the status filter to show only rules staff can use.
