Users & Staff
Create or edit a role and its permissions
Create a role with the page access and actions staff members need, then assign it to their accounts.
Before you start
- Settings → Users & Staff
- Your account needs permission to view roles and to create or edit them. You can grant only permissions your account is authorized to manage.
What success looks like
- The role saves the selected permissions and applies them to staff accounts assigned that role.
Quick start
The shortest path through this area.
- 1Open Roles & Permissions and click Create Role, or open a role you can edit.
- 2Enter the Role Name and Description.
- 3Find the relevant Store sections. Select individual actions, or use a section’s selection control and review all the permissions it selects.
- 4Include both View access and the actions needed for a task. For example, a person who issues refunds needs to view orders and refund transactions.
- 5Click Create Role or Save Changes.
- 6Open Staff Members and assign the role to the appropriate accounts.
- 7Have the staff member sign in and check their access. Pages can be hidden from navigation when the account lacks the required permission.

Fields and options
- Inventory: Singles, products, warehouses and transfers, purchasing, pricing, marketplaces, and imports have separate action permissions.
- Sales: Orders, fulfillment, refunds, discounts, shipping, buylist, customers, loyalty, and payment setup have separate permissions.
- Reports and accounting: Permissions distinguish viewing and exporting reports from creating or editing accounting records.
- Content: Pages, branding, navigation, testimonials, and events have their own access controls.
- Administration: Settings, billing, email, support, staff, and roles are controlled separately. A permission may be listed even when its feature is not available to the account.
