Customers
Import customers, export records, and send setup invites
Import a CSV to add new customers, including starting credit and optional address or loyalty details. Existing customers are skipped, so this import will not update their balances or memberships.
Before you start
- Dashboard → Sales → Customers
- You need permission to view customers. Adding, editing, deactivating, and managing loyalty each require the corresponding permission for your role.
What success looks like
- New customers are added. The summary tells you how many were created or skipped, and reports any setup invitations you chose to send.
Quick start
The shortest path through this area.
- 1Click Export CSV to download all customer records, including deactivated customers. The export includes the whole list even when you have a search or filter selected. To add customers from a file, click Import CSV.
- 2In Import Customers, click Template. Fill in at least a name, email, or phone for each new customer. If left blank, store credit starts at 0.00 and Active defaults to Yes.
- 3Leave Customer Reference blank for a new customer. If you are importing a previous MintLGS export, keep its Customer Reference values so existing customers can be recognized even without contact details.
- 4For Loyalty Membership, enter Active, Paused, Ended, or leave it blank. Set up the Loyalty Program before importing memberships.
- 5Select your file using Customer CSV. Review the preview counts and sample rows, including which customers already exist and which addresses, balances, or memberships will be added.
- 6Click the Import Customers button, which shows how many customers will be imported. Check Created and Skipped existing in the completion summary.
- 7If Send Setup Invites is available, use it to email account-setup invitations to eligible new customers who have email addresses. Importing the file does not send those invitations by itself.
- 8Close the window and find a few of the imported customers. Check their details and balances against your file.
How this area works
Reference information for the choices on this page.
Important details
- The import skips existing customers and their loyalty memberships. Use the customer editor or Adjust Credit to change an existing record.
- Setup invitations are available only for eligible customers newly created by the import who have an email address.
Troubleshooting
Choose the symptom that matches what you see.
How do I export my customer list?
Open Customers and click Export CSV. The export includes all customer records, including deactivated customers, even when you have a search or filter selected. Large exports download as a ZIP containing CSV files.
The preview shows no customers to import
Check whether all rows already match existing customers. The import intentionally skips those records.
An existing customer’s balance did not change
Open that customer and use Adjust Credit. Importing a CSV does not overwrite an existing balance.
A customer without contact details was added twice
Keep Customer Reference when reimporting a MintLGS export. Removing it can prevent MintLGS from recognizing an existing record that has no email or phone.
