Customers

Find, create, or edit a customer record

Find an existing customer before adding a new record. You can update their contact information, notes, and Tax Exempt setting from the customer editor.

Before you start

  • Dashboard → Sales → Customers
  • You need permission to view customers. Adding, editing, deactivating, and managing loyalty each require the corresponding permission for your role.

What success looks like

  • The customer appears in the list with the details you saved. You can reopen the same record to view history or make further changes.

Quick start

The shortest path through this area.

  1. 1Search for the customer by name, email, or phone. Select Active or Deactivated as needed. Use Sort by to order the list by name, email, phone, store credit, lifetime spending, or newest customers.
  2. 2Change Per page to show more or fewer results, and use First, Prev, Next, or Last to move between pages.
  3. 3Open the customer and click Edit Customer. If no matching record exists, click Add Customer.
  4. 4Enter the customer’s First Name, Last Name, Email, Phone, and Notes. Email is optional. When you first add an email address to a customer record, MintLGS sends an account-setup invitation. Select Tax Exempt if that setting should apply to this customer.
  5. 5Click Save Changes or Add Customer. Open the record again to confirm the details.
  6. 6Use Customer History to review purchases and credit changes. Use Customer notes to add a dated staff note to the existing record.

How this area works

Reference information for the choices on this page.

Important details
  • Search for the customer before adding them, including customers who have no email address. This helps you avoid splitting their history between duplicate records.
  • Tax Exempt is a setting in the customer record. Selecting it does not establish whether the customer qualifies for a tax exemption.

Troubleshooting

Choose the symptom that matches what you see.

I cannot find a customer

Select Deactivated and search again. Try the email address or phone number already saved on their record.

The customer will not save

Read the message beside the affected field. Check whether another customer already uses the contact details you entered.
