Cancel an event

Cancel an event and decide how to handle paid registrations. Review the refund choice carefully before confirming the cancellation.

Before you start

  • Content → Events
  • You need Events: View permission to open events. Creating, editing, or canceling events requires the corresponding permission. Refunding a paid registration also requires Issue refunds.

What success looks like

  • The event is marked canceled, with the chosen refund handling recorded against its registrations.

Quick start

The shortest path through this area.

  1. 1Open the event, review its active registrations and payment records, and click Cancel Event.
  2. 2If there are no refundable payments, click Cancel Event in the confirmation prompt, or Cancel to stop.
  3. 3If payments can be refunded, review the total. Choose Refund and Cancel Event, or Cancel without Refunds and confirm the second prompt. Choose Keep Event at that prompt to stop the cancellation.
  4. 4Wait for completion. Open Completed Events and reopen the event to check its status and payment records. Active registrations with an email address are notified of the cancellation.
  5. 5If the action stops with an error, check which refunds and changes have already completed before retrying.

Troubleshooting

Choose the symptom that matches what you see.

I cannot cancel the event

Check your Events: Cancel permission. Refunding paid registrations also requires refund permission.

Some attendee refunds failed

Review each payment and its remaining refundable balance before retrying. Contact support with the event reference if the result is unclear.

A paid registration has no refund option

Choose Cancel if the prompt has no refund choice but you expect a refundable payment. Reopen the event and wait for its registration and payment details to load. Check the recorded payment and remaining refundable balance before continuing. Contact support if the choices still do not match the payment.
